LTC Marshall E. White was born in Hart County, KY, on October 6, 1918. White served in World War II from 8 April 1941 - 9 Nov 1945. He attained rank of Master Sergeant. Major battles and campaigns were Southern Philippines, Luzon, New Guinea. Received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon w/3 Bronze Stars, American Theater Ribbon, Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon w/2 Bronze Stars.

White enlisted in the Kentucky Army National Guard on 6 May 1948 in Service Battery, 138th Field Artillery Battalion as Second Lieutenant. During his career he was also in HHB, 138th FA, The 413th Ordnance Co, and HHD, KyARNG.

White retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in November 1971 from the Kentucky Army National Guard as the State Maintenance Officer.

White worked as the Diretor of the Facilities Division for the Kentucky Deaprtment of Military Affairs from December 1971 until his retirement from state government in February 1981. LTC White oversaw much of the construction of Boone National Guard Center and the largest construction era for new National Guard armories of any decade in the history of the Commonwealth.
